Dr Paul J. Maginn is Programme Co-ordinator of the Masters of Urban and Regional Planning at The University of Western Australia where he has been based since 2007. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Dr Maginn obtained his PhD from London South Bank University. Paul is the author/co-editor of 5 books: Urban Regeneration, Community Power and the (In)Significane of ‘Race’ (Ashgate, 2004); Qualitative Urban Analysis: An International Perspective (Elsevier, 2008); Qualitative Housing Analysis: An International Perspective (Emerald, 2012); Planning Australia: An Overview of Urban and Regional Planning (Cambridge University Press, 2012); and (Sub)Urban Sexscapes: Geographies and Regulation of the Sex Industry (Routledge, 2015). He is currently working on two co-edited books, Suburbia in the 21st Century : From Dreamscape to Nightmare? (Routledge); and, Navigating Sex Work: Gender, Justice and Policy (Palgrave). Dr Maginn is Editor-in-Chief of Australia’s leading urban studies journal, Urban Policy and Research, Co-chair of the 2019 State of Australian Cities Conference (Perth, 3-5 December), and a founding member of the Urban Broadcast Collective – a network of Australia-based academic podcasters.
