Dr. Alan Dupont is one of Australia’s leading strategists, Asianists and thought leaders who has written and commented extensively on strategic developments in China and China’s defence and foreign policies. The founder and CEO of the Cognoscenti Group, a political and strategic risk consultancy, he established and led the last Defence White Paper team and has been a senior advisor to the corporate sector and government on national security. Alan was previously the foundation Michael Hintze Professor of International Security and CEO of the US Studies Centre at the University of Sydney and is the author of nearly 100 books, monographs and articles on defence and international security. He is Contributing National Security Editor for The Australian newspaper and a non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington and the Lowy Institute. He holds a PhD in international relations from ANU and is a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon and the US Foreign Service Institute.
