Peter served seven terms in federal parliament and was Australia’s longest-serving treasurer. He set up Australia’s system of financial regulation; establishing APRA, ASIC and the Takeovers Panel. He also established the Australian Future Fund and was Chairman until 2024. He has served as Chairman of the Global Group of 20 Finance Ministers and Central Bankers (G20). Leaving politics in 2009, he joined boards including the Independent Advisory Board to the World Bank and Chairman of the Nine Entertainment Corporation from 2016-2024.
