John Kehoe writes for the Australian Financial Review from the Canberra press gallery, covering economic policy and the intersection of politics and business. Between 2013 and 2018, John was the Financial Review’s US Correspondent in Washington. He reported on the Obama presidency and the rise of Donald Trump through the Republican primaries, the presidential election and the first 18 months of the Trump presidency. He also covered international affairs, American business, the economy and financial markets. John joined the Financial Review in 2008 and has reported on banking, tax and federal politics. He appears on Nine Network news programs and ABC Insiders. Before entering journalism, John began his career as an economic analyst at the Australian Treasury, after studying economics and politics at Monash University in Melbourne.
