Emeritus Professor Greg Craven AO is an academic, lawyer and writer. His particular fields of academic expertise are constitutional law and history. As an academic, he most recently served as long-term Vice Chancellor of the Australian Catholic University. Prior to that he held a series of senior academic posts at Curtin University, the University of Notre Dame Australia and the University od Melbourne. As a lawyer, he served as Crown Counsel for Victoria under the Kennett Government and has been active in constitutional debates such as those around the republic and an Indigenous Voice. Professor Craven is well-known as a Catholic voice, and was prominent in the defence of Cardinal George Pell. Pope Francis has appointed him a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Gregory the Great. As a contributor to public debate, he is a long-term columnist for The Australian newspaper.
