The Honourable Mark Butler MP has spent two decades climbing the ranks of federal Labor, from union organiser to senior cabinet minister. He currently serves as Minister for Health and Ageing, Minister for Disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and Deputy Leader of the House. First elected to represent Port Adelaide in 2007, Butler moved to the newly created seat of Hindmarsh in 2019 and has held it since. He held key portfolios under the Rudd and Gillard governments and served as National President of the ALP from 2015 to 2018. A senior figure of the party’s Left faction, Butler has also written on ageing and climate policy.
